Mickelson Physically and Mentally ready to play

Phil Mickelson is ready to start his 2007 golf season in a different place than last year. He has lost 25 pounds since last year. He accomplished the weight loss by lifting weights and doing a 90 minute cardio workout six days a week.

He acknowledged at a press conference yesterday that he is motivated to play. One of the motivators is the FedExCup and the prospect of picking up $10 million if he wins.

Mickelson has been M.I.A. since a disappointing display at the Ryder Cup in Dublin in September.

He should do exceedingly well this week due to a variety of factors including:

1. He is the only top 30 player in the world participating in the event.
2. He is the defending Masters champion.
3. The start of the season has proven to be good to Mickelson in the past.
