The European Ryder Cup team is almost complete as Jose Maria Olzabal and Paul McGinley have secured their places on the team. The only threats to McGinley and Olazabal's spots were Paul Broadhurst, Johan Edfords, and Thomas Bjorn who were not able to play well enough in the BMW International to gain spots on the team. Olazabal was criticized by Colin Montgomerie, a definite member of the team, for skipping the BMW International while he was still on the bubble for making the team. Captain Ian Woosnam will choose two players who did not qualify to be a member of his team for the Ryder Cup at the K Club in Dublin, Ireland later this month. The players who qualified are:
