Tiger Will Skip the Tour Championship

Tiger Woods announced on his website that he will not be playing in the season ending Tour Championship. Woods will skip the event for the first time in his career, and will certainly hit the fans at East Lake in Atlanta, Georgia hard. Woods wrote on his website that the reason he will be skipping the season ending finale is fatigue and stress caused by a long streak of events to the Ryder Cup and Amex Championship. Phil Mickelson already withdrew from the event several weeks ago and Stephen Ames will be physically unable to play due to back problems. The field will be only 27 players; the smallest in tournament history. The FedEx Cup is certainly being challenged by the big stars choosing not to come as the FedEx Cup is supposed to offer enough money to get the stars to show up. If Tiger and Phil won't show up to the Tour Championship, the question of whether or not either will increase their participation in regular events next year is certainly up for debate.
