End of the Year Awards

As the TOUR's official season has concluded, several awards for performance and character were handed out. Among those awards, the Payne Stewart Award was given to South African Gary Player. The Payne Stewart Award, given since the death of the three time champion, is awarded to the player who exemplifies golf's traditions and spirit. Other awards include Jim Furyk's capture of the Vardon Trophy, an award given to the player with the lowest scoring average who competed in over 60 rounds. Though Furyk won, Tiger Woods had a lower scoring average at 68.11 but failed to compete in the required 60 rounds. Woods, however, did compete in 50 round which made Woods eligible for the Byron Nelson Award. Aside from the awards, Aussie Adam Scott jumped to fourth place in the World Rankings and can beat out current number three Phil Mickelson based on his performance in several season ending events in his homeland of Australia.
