FedEx Cup hits first road bump

With the highly anticipated arrival of the PGA TOUR's FedEx Cup series, the prospect of attracting the big guns made many fans excited. Unfortunately, it looks like no amount of money is going to trap Tiger or attract Lefty to the TOUR's weaker events.

Despite the $10 million bonus awaiting the top player in FedEx Cup points, Tiger and Phil will not participate in the Mercedes-Benz Championship. The Mercedes-Benz is a $5.5 million event which acts as the PGA TOUR's only "tournament of champions". Surprisingly, the giant purse and location (Kapalua, Hawaii) are not enough for the best to appear.

While the final field list is not yet in stone, it appears the world's number one and three players will not be teeing it up.
