Tadd Fujikawa turning Pro

In three weeks, Tadd Fujikawa will compete on a sponsor's exemption at the Reno-Tahoe Open where he will give up his amateur status and make his pro debut. Not bad for a kid that just finished tenth grade. He said he still plans to finish high school and attend college.

Fujikawa made the cut at the Sony Open in January, making him the youngest player in more than 50 years to make a PGA Tour cut.

His parents attended the press conference where Fujikawa announced he will turn pro. His mother, Lori Fujikawa, an office clerk, acknowledged that it has been extremely difficult on their family to pay for her son's golf lessons, travels to the mainland and other golf-related expenses.

Fujikawa was born 3-1/2 months early and weighed only 1 lb, 15 oz. Today, he stands 5'1".
