Phil Mickelson, who won the Deutsch Bank Championship, and is #1 in FedEx Cup points will NOT play in the third FedEx event, the BMW Championship.
Mickelson was rather cryptic in his reason why, stating, "My frustration from this past year came from asking for a couple of things in the FedEx Cup that weren't done and not really feeling all that bad now if I happen to miss [an event]."
Many have speculated that players are frustrated that the prize is $10 million in retirement funds as opposed to actually a cash paycheck. Noone knows if that is what has frustrated Mickelson.
He did offer that he will play in Atlanta, the final event for the top 30 players.
