Struggling former stars make exemption decisions

The PGA Tour's 2009 season is in the books, and players are now faced with tough decisions about next year. While some have already entered or dropped out of qualifying school, former stars of the TOUR must decide whether they will use their one-time career earnings exemptions.

This special exemption is available to players currently in the top 50 of the all time money list. It is available once and provides the golfer with playing privileges next season.

So far, Brad Faxon and former US Open champion Corey Pavin have chosen to exercise this option for 2010.

Tom Lehman (pictured left) and Chris DiMarco, both on the chopping block as well, must make a decision whether they will do the same or attempt to earn their TOUR cards back through sponsors exemptions to PGA Tour events. Stuart Appleby is in the same boat, but, according to the TOUR, is expected to announce his decision in the near future.
