Martin Erlandsson took the lead on the second day of the European Tour's BMW International after firing a 68 to take a one stroke lead. David Howell, the leader of the European's Ryder Cup points list, shot a 69 to finish one stroke back of Erlandsson. Lee Westwood is looking for a strong finish this week in Germany to support his captain's pick bid into the Ryder Cup. Westwood shot a 71 which will keep him several strokes back, but still in a strong posistion. The Golf Channel reports that John Daly's withdrawal from the tournament was due to his suffering from a gastrointestinal virus.
