2006: A Space Golf Odyssey
The second golf swing in space was made by Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin outside the international space station. The shot will surely be the longest shank ever as Natalyia Hearn of Element 21 Golf stated the drive is expected to travel over a billion miles. Tyurin smoked a six iron off a spring like tee outside the international space station. Check out the YouTube video:
This shot was the second ever in space following the last Moonball by Alan Sheperd nearly 35 years ago.
The ball used is considered to be the smallest satellite in history as a tracking device was installed by the company Element 21. Golf fans can check the progress of the ball at e21golf.com .
