J.B. Holmes, Ten Year High School Letterman

J.B. Holmes, 24, who is currently tied for third place in Hawaii at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, spent ten years on his high school's golf team.

Holmes played his first junior tournament in third grade and won. He won the next three tournaments, too. His father asked the high school golf coach at Taylor County High School in Kentucky if his third grade son could try out for the high school golf team. He tried out and made the team. He earned his first varsity letter in third grade, too.

By fifth grade, he was one of the top two players on the high school team. Eighth grade saw Holmes have the ability to drive the ball 300 yards. When he was a high school sophomore, he won the state title.

He attended Kentucky University and played on the golf team all four years. He was a medalist at Q-school and made the Walker Team. Perhaps one of his most amazing accomplishments, is making the Academic All-American Team while at Kentucky, given that Holmes is dyslexic.
