Singh Wins Mercedes-Benz Championship

Vijay Singh won the Mercedes-Benz Championship today despite a valiant effort by Adam Scott.

Scott began the day at three back, but fell several strokes farther by the time the group made the turn. Of course, Scott had to give it all he had on the eighteenth when he smashed a shot from the fairway very close to find himself a chance to possibly tie it up.

Singh started this week as the number seven golfer in the world. He picked up more than $1 million for today's win as well as a new Mercedes-Benz.

South African Trevor Immelman never really made a run to make the day a match between Singh and Scott.

The FedEx Cup series started this week making Veej the first ever winner in a FedEx Cup event. Singh will receive 4500 points out of a total of 25,000 distributed at the Mercedes-Benz. In August, the top 144 players on the FedEx points list will get the chance to play off for a cool $35 million with the winner at the end of a four week playoff series earning another $10 million.
