With superpowers like Tennessee and Connecticut pursuing long streaks of national championships in women's basketball, the Duke University women's golf team has likely found greater success.
The last three seasons for the Blue Devils have resulted in national championships, setting up an opportunity for Duke to claim its fourth consecutive title this week.
However, the Blue Devils struggled today in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After the first round, Duke stands at 11 over par, dwarfed by Southern California's tournament leading four under par.
Out of the 24 teams who have qualified to the NCAA Division I championship, Duke is currently in 18th.
