JP Hayes Offered Sponsor Exemptions

Several 2009 PGA Tour events have offered JP Hayes sponsor exemptions. Last month, Hayes disqualified himself from a PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament for accidentally playing a non-sanctioned golf ball.

Hayes has received exemptions to play in the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill., the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwuakee, the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

On the PGA Tour website, Hayes is quoted as saying after winning fhis irst TOUR title in 1998, said, "More than the money, to me that exemption means the most. For the first time in a lot of years I won't have to fill out that application for qualifying school."

Hopefully he'll win one of those tournaments, and he won't have to worry about Q school next year. I've been wondering why he would have even put an illegal ball in his bag in the first place.

    Thanks,
    Bill
